Dear Madam, dear Sir, The withdrawal of kava-containing products from the markets of most European countries, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore is not only a personal tragedy for patients suffering from anxiety disorders. It is much more an economic disaster for the producers and traders in the Pacific Islands, in particular Fiji, Hawaii, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu. Furthermore, it is threatening many rural communities in this region, that depend on the cultivation and harvesting of this effective and safe medicinal plant. We, Phytopharm Consulting (Germany), in cooperation with the Center for Development and Enterprise (CDE) and other NGO's, are fighting the unjustified ban on kava-containing products and are currently working out strategies to rebut it. Phytopharm Consulting is the leading international consulting company specialized in herbal medicines. Apart from a comprehensive scientific analysis, Phytopharm and the CDE will present a convincing and detailed situation analysis, demonstrating the various dramatic effects of the kava-ban and its consequences for all the affected stakeholders.
