very strong kava (too strong?) that works well...
Big Kap here is a method i have developed, which seems to work quite alright. occasionally it can be overpowering, so drink it slowly over some time (1 cup / 20 mins or more) 6 2/3 tbsp kava (6.67) 2 cups warm water 140 or so... i boil it and let it cool for a bit (5 mins) 1 cup milk Blend on highest setting (in a blender) for 5 mins. At this point, the beverage should look very dark, like coffee with cream. Dump this into secondary container(s). Then put a cloth paint strainer (unused for paint *wink*) over the blender pitcher. Pour the kava mix back into the blender-pitcher through the strainer, and let it cool for a bit. Squeeze the strainer dry, and save the used kava root (if you care to). You can get these paint strainers at Home Depot for maybe 60-80 cents / strainer. Very inexpensive, and is best straining method I've used so far. Now you have some fairly strong kava sitting in your blender-pitcher. At this point I usually add a lot of chocolate syrup and some sugar (about 3-6 tbsp) for palatability. Blend again for ~30 secs, until it is very dark and well mixed. Then transfer it to another container if you need to, and let it cool in the fridge overnight. (Letting it cool works best for me in terms of effect. I have no idea why this is the case...anyone know?) Next morning, you will have a good deal of strong kava (about 3 cups of liquid). Drink it slow, like I said. This will definitely bring on effects that I can only describe as inebriating. If drunk too quickly, it can be rather overwhelming to say the least, so please be careful. By a formula that yee posted on another topic (I think it was regarding how much was safe to have) this should come to 1.7 or 1.8 grams of kavalectones (maybe less, as I think less than 50% of kavalectones can be yielded in one pass off of raw powder...in the case that it is 36% yield you get more like 1.2-1.3 grams). According to the reference cited in Yee's post, this is just under the recreational amount of kava used in an entire day/evening. (I think that was 2-3 grams.) Anyway, I'd like to make sure this isn't too much for a person to have. I intuit it is not, but as I have said, there have been times when I've felt completely overpowered (for maybe 10-20 mins) about an hour or so after drinking this concoction. After that, though, I can say the rest of the effects are very nice. Any comments on the safety/practicality of this approach will be appreciated. In any event, use caution and common sense, and don't necessarily start with the amount I've used. Take care... -Adam

I am referring to 140 Fahrenheit. Sorry for any confusion. :)
yee Aloha Big Kap, Wow! There's value to finding a recipe that allows for strength and palatibility - I guess - at the same time. Thank you very much for sharing this with us... I don't know the ramifications of taking the megadoses but it appears culturally that there has always been an amusement to those who choose to or unwittingly go to the far end. I am not a medical doctor so I cannot of course endorse this. Personally I will give it a try. [:)] Mahalo, Jonathan
castros Wow is all i can say. I have tried kava about 8 times using various methods and only felt a slight relaxation at most. I tried this recipe and by the time i got to the second cup I had to take a break. I was really hit hard with the effects. I felt slightly stoned and drunk at the same time. I was extremly relaxed and didnt want to move at all. The effects lasted for about two hours. Now I can really say Kava is for real. Thanks for submitting the recipe!
Jim Hey castros, how much would you say 6 2/3 tbsp of kava, and 2 cups of water is? Last time I used 2 ounces/57 grams of kava with about 1 litre of water and like you only felt a slight relaxation. I prepared it the traditional way. This method sounds promising, but Im not sure about the measurements...any help appreciated!
Jim Well I used my initiative and made it, it really works! I think it might just have been the blender that did it though as it does most of the work for you. I found it quite hard to squeeze the water out through the strainer after blending, I think maybe because the kava had been ground up a lot and was blocking it.
