| yee | March Tae's Teppanyaki (lunchwagon). For $5.00: rib-eye steak wrapped around a bed of shredded raw potato, placed pre-cut onto a bed of romain lettuce; choice of wasabi, garlic, teriyaki, or plain salt & pepper condiments; one scope of each of regular and garlic rice; and ponzu sauce. Location: Rockza parking/entry area. Available M-F, 10am-2pm. The teppanyaki is cooked to order, and it doesn't take long. I've been there four times since it opened up recently. I especially like the wasabi, but an Indian friend likes the garlic, which I think is baked or crisped. [edited 4/18/03] I've been back few more times since the last report. Yesterday I asked for a garlic-wasabi combination. That was perfect! [:D] Today's a holiday, but it's Friday, I will go again. Asian Taste (drink brand) Green Tea "Low in Sugar". Sale priced: $1.69, 1.5 l. The green tea seems to have less sugar, which I prefer, than the Arizona Teas (R). The green tea is sold in light green, plastic, 1.5 l bottles at 99 Ranch Market. Perhaps the remarkable part is that the low amount of sugar doesn't overwhelm the flavor of the green tea. April New Violet's Grill I don't see anything new about this place. It reminds me of the 70s. It's located in Dillingham Plaza (Zippy's, Korean supermarket, et al.). The only reason to go there is to order their #2 special - Ahi Belly (grilled). For $8.95 you get four large piecies of ahi belley, a rice bowl, choice of miso or soup of the day, drink (they have Green River!), and dessert. A friend, who loves ahi bellies, always calls first to see that they have them in the kitchen. Otherwise, we go on to another place for lunch. I must say they have the best ahi belly I've tried. But then this is the only place I've tried ahi belly. [:I] |
