Rambutan is the “hairy” fruit. Beneath its tough, red peel lies a pristine white fruit with a meaty texture and a sweet taste similar to lychee – perhaps better because they’re less acidic, meatier, and less messy.

These rambutan are from Hakalau, Hawai‘i. Although the hairs (spinterns) will wilt, the fruit will keep for up to one month under refrigerated conditions. You can help maintain the cosmetic appearance of the hairs by sprinkling water on them.

Please note that the fruiting season is very short: now through November 2003. Enjoy them while they're still in season. Mahalo!
