Rambutan is the hairy fruit. Beneath its tough, red peel lies a pristine white fruit with a meaty texture and a sweet taste similar to lychee perhaps better because theyre less acidic, meatier, and less messy. These rambutan are from Hakalau, Hawaii. Although the hairs (spinterns) will wilt, the fruit will keep for up to one month under refrigerated conditions. You can help maintain the cosmetic appearance of the hairs by sprinkling water on them. |
